Who needs 'em, Pappy. Let 'em go down the same way as Air America.
We have Drudge, NewsMax, Hannity, Newt, Rush, Mike, and FoxNews.
Operation Chaos - it's about more than just trashing kommie-krat

You beat me to the punch. These people don't read. They take marching
orders.
Additionally, The LAT has always been rather conservative, being owned
by the Chandler family, and now Sam Zell (the billionaire real estate
tycoon who many predicted would run Tribune into the ground), but to
the Pappy/janet_reno chucklehead duo, California=Liberal, end of
story.
I attribute the decline of Tribune not to any ideological shifts, as
Pappy would like to believe, but to plain old incompetence and Sam
Zell's private scorn for journalism in general, a scorn shared, I
believe, by the radio talk show blowhards that are the staples of the
conservative movement.

Good one, your post make Janet out to be the retard of this thread,
just ahead of Pappy. You come in at a close third, Eddie, so you get
the Bronze medal of retardation. Congrats!!
What Pappy was saying in the subject head was that the papers
themselves went down the crapper, which contradicts his post. Only the
publishers of the papers resigned; the papers are still in business.
"Publisher" is a job title, you knew that, right Eddie?

Concentrate very hard and try to comprehend what I am about to tell you,
Terrorist.
He said "swirl" down the crapper. As in "going" down the crapper. As in "on
their way into" the crapper.
And they are according to the article.
Here, just take a look:
"continuing a string of executive defections amid a broad cost-cutting
effort at the company's papers nationwide."
"The Times said two weeks ago it will cut 250 positions, including 150 in
the newsroom"
"Tribune Co. is cutting costs to offset declines in advertising and
circulation revenue"
"The staff cuts at the paper, which aim to save $8.8 million in personnel
costs, will remove 55 or 60 of its roughly 575 newsroom jobs"
Now, see what a fool you've made of yourself again?

The article never concludes that, and it's an assessment on Pappy's
part.
It's a judgment call, and by my judgment they aren't in the crapper
until they file chapter 11, end of story.
Prediction: 50 years from now, the LA Times and the Chicago Tribune
are still in business. You can take that to the bank , you little
flea. Newspapers go through this in every economic downturn, and they
always come out on the other end. |
